OpenTable Case Study

OpenTable Case Study

OpenTable users often experience decision paralysis when faced with multiple restaurant options, leading to abandoned searches and lost bookings. I designed a comparison tool that allows users to select and compare restaurants side-by-side across key factors like crowd levels, wait times, distance, ambiance, and menus. The solution includes a refined search flow that filters results upfront, a selection system for building comparison sets, and a dedicated comparison view with custom data visualizations for each category. Through iterative wireframing and prototyping, I learned to balance information density with usability, using modular cards and progressive disclosure to help users make confident booking decisions without feeling overwhelmed. This is a course project and has not been contracted by OpenTable.
